In a bid to celebrate and propagate the rich poetic heritage of the upcountry Tamil community in Sri Lanka, the Pen Sri Lanka organization has launched an ambitious initiative..

Named "Voice for the Voiceless," this groundbreaking program spearheaded by PEN Sri Lanka, the local arm of PEN International, aims to unearth and showcase the talents of young Tamil poets residing in the upcountry regions of Sri Lanka. Under this initiative, PEN Sri Lanka intends to translate the works of these budding poets into both Sinhala and English, culminating in a comprehensive anthology.

The anthology, comprising original Tamil poems alongside their translations, will be distributed free of charge to libraries, schools, and universities across the nation. Moreover, PEN Sri Lanka plans to extend the reach of these literary endeavors by dispatching copies of the anthology to various PEN centers worldwide.

To further amplify the voices of these Tamil poets, the organization is in the process of developing a dedicated website. This digital platform will serve as a repository for the poetic compositions of these talented individuals, accompanied by relevant information.

Aspiring mountain Dravidian poets eager to partake in this transformative program are encouraged to reach out for further details by contacting 0758336253 or 0773112576. With "Voice for the Voiceless," PEN Sri Lanka endeavors to provide a platform for upcountry Tamil poets to shine on both local and global stages.
